Abstract

230,868. Zoller, A. March 17, 1924, [Convention date]. Cylinders, construction of and cooling.-Twin cylinders having a common combustion space are made of steel by welding the parts together. The inlet and exhaust passages 6 which are each formed in two pieces, stamped from sheet metal and welded together along the line XX, and the plates 2, 3, 4 are first welded in position on the cylinder barrels 1 and then the water jacket 5, formed of sheet metal in two pieces, united along the line YY, is welded around them. The part 7 of the cylinder head is stamped and in a multi-cylinder engine several of the parts are welded together. A stamped water jacket dome 10, common to all the cylinders, is then welded in position, tubular distance pieces 8 for holding down screws and branches 9 having been inserted.
