Abstract

230,290. Cochrane, C. H., and Cochrane, D. A. April 3, 1924. Mud-guards rotating with wheels each comprise a rubber or like screen secured between the flange of a dished metal disc secured to the wheel and a metal ring, the screen being formed with a beaded edge at its side adjacent the wheel. Figs. 1 and 2 show the guard attached to a spoke wheel, bolts 4 passing through the guard 1, metal ring 3, and the dished metal disc 2, which is bolted to the wheel spokes by bolts passing through the holes 6. A tubular extension 8 on the disc 2 fits over the wheel hub cap. In a modification, the rubber screen is made in arcuate, overlapping sections, each secured to a metal ring, which is bent for a portion of its inner edge to the same angle as the angle of a disc wheel and secured thereto by bolts.
