Abstract

228,973. MacLean, J. P. Nov. 8, 1923. Spring devices.-In a spring fork of the trailing - rocker type, the auxiliary fork 7, or each rod thereof, passes through or over a guide bearing or block 13, which is so pivoted that its pivotal axis intersects the axis of the auxiliary fork or rod, thus preventing binding action in the bearing. The guide bearings 13 are trunnioned in a yoke 11 rigid with the steering-head 3 and bolted at 12 to the main fork 1. The upper ends of the rods 7 of the auxiliary fork are connected to tension springs 10, which are secured at their lower ends to the yoke 11. In other constructions, modified arrangements of the guide bearings and of tension and compression springs are described. Specification 208,514 is referred to.
