Distributing matrices.-In distributing-apparatus of tne kind in which matrices, afterbeing sorted bv a fount-separator pass down shoots to lower distributorboxes, by which they are delivered to main distributors, each lower distributor-box, instead of being provided with a pair of reciprocating pawls, is equipped with an associated pusher, which is adapted to engage the ears of the matrices. The matrices entering a distributor-box are supported by their upper and lower ears on inclined rails B<1>, Fig. 4, down which they slide. The matrices are lifted into engagement with the distributor-screws C<1> by a reciprocating lifter E, to which they are delivered by a horizontally sliding pusher D. The pusher is provided with angular bracket-plates D', Fig. 9, carrying blocks D', which engage the upper ears of the matrices, similar blocks D<3>, formed by the forked end of the pusher, being adaptsd to engage the lower ears. The rails B<1> have matrix-arresting shoulders B<2> which rise from horizontal portions B<3>, and have also upper horizontal portions B', which support the matrices after they have been lifted above the shoulders B <2>. A separator-blade G keeps back the following matrices, and also prevents tilting of a matrix whilst it is supported by the pusher-blocks D<2>. The parts B<5> of the lower rails preferably engage beneath the body of a matrix, in order that a matrix may be supported until its toothcombination engages the distributor-bar.
