Thermionic amplifiers.-The grids 7, 17 of the two radio-frequency amplifiers are connected through the input coils 4, 16 respectively to the positive terminal 10 of the filament-heating battery A, the rheostat arms 5 and the parallel condensers 8, 18 being connected to the negative terminal 11. This automatically puts a positive bias on each grid and also inserts the resistance of the battery in the oscillation circuit thus tending to prevent the building up of undesirable oscillations. The plate 24 of the detector valve is connected through the telephones 25 to an intermediate point on the high-tension battery B.
