Abstract
Raw barium sulphide is worked to a paste with water and mixed with half the equivalent quantityof hydrochloric acid so as to convert half the barium into chloride. The solution is treated with an alkali chloride in excess, so as to convert the barium hydrosulphide into chloride and salt out of chloride. The barium chloride is separated and the mother-liquor containing alkali hydrosulphide and chloride may be regarded as a finished product. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the mother-liquor may be used with a new quantity of barium sulphide for a repetition of the process by which a stronger solution is obtained which on evaporation is freed from alkali chloride and yields solid alkali hydrosulphide. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
