Hot-water storage apparatus. - A hot-water storage tank 6 for suppling hot water to a boiler 11 upon increased steam demands is fed continuously through an economizer 3, and the feed is heated by steam from a superheater 12, except the whole or part of the steam being taken off by a pipe 13 for other purposes during the discharge of the storage tank. During charging, a threeway valve 4 or the equivalent controlled by the pressure in the steam pipe 14, directs the feedwater through a pipe 7 and draws with it water from the bottom of the tank through a pipe 5. If the steam pressure falls, the pipe 5 is cut off. Upon further reduction of pressure, the pipe 7 is cut off, and the whole of the feed passes through the pipe 5 into the bottom of the tank, and hot water is discharged from the top. The supply of heating steam to the injector or like device 8 in the feed pipe 7 is controlled by the temperature of the water in the pipe. The boiler may be fed from the tank through the pipe 19 when the feed pump fails. A pipe connection 20 is provided to enable the boiler to be fed directly when the tank is disconnected.
