Fluid-actuated valves.- In air-pressure sprinkler apparatus the discharge of the air pressure is expedited by the provision of an auxiliary apparatus comprising a valve i opened by a diaphragm g moved by the pressure in an air chamber e and closed when water passes, the water exerting pressure on the diaphragm owing to a damming effect brought about by the dimensioning of the valve chambers, such as by making the outlet passage b<2> smaller than the inlet passage b<1>. A gravity valve o may be arranged in a conduit n connecting the air chamber e with the discharge passage b' to allow excessive pressure in the chamber e to pass so that it does not prevent the discharge valve from being closed by the water. The damming pressure may be produced by water entering and being dammed in a closed space which is disposed above the diaphragm and communicates by a passage with the sprinkler pipe a.
