Abstract

Percussive hand tools. - The striker of an electricallyactuated percussive tool contains no magnetic material and is traversed by an alternating current so as to reciprocate in a magnetic field produced by a direct current. The striker B, Fig. 13, is connected by flexible conductors B<1> with a source of alternating current and is guided by means of a projection C<1> in the field of the direct-current windings I, II. Springs may be inserted in front of and behind the striker, or a cylinder and piston may be employed behind the striker. Suitable guides may be used in place of the flexible conductors B<1>, or the striker B may itself form the secondary member of an alternating current transformer, as shown in Fig. 8, the primary windings III, IV of the transformer being wound on the same core as the direct current windings I, I<1>, II, II<1>.
