Treating substances with liquids.-Clothes are saturated with starch, dyes or the like in a centrifugal machine which has a rotary perforated container 4 to hold the clothes and an inner perforated chamber 5 through which the starch is supplied and which rotates with the chamber 4. A perforated sleeve 6, inside the chamber 5, can be adjusted to vary the size of the passages through the walls and so regulate the flow of starch. The feeding of starch from the tank 12 is controlled by the valve 10 on the pipe 9, and a swivel 11 allows the pipe to swing to a position against the stop 14 when not in use. The excess starch passes into the casing 3 and pipe 22, and the pump 19 transfers it to the tank 12.
