Abstract

1,234,442. Washing machines. HOOVER Ltd. 28 June, 1968, No. 30941/68. Heading D1A. A water inlet assembly for a washing machine comprises an outer container 10 with an outlet 16 above its lowest level communicating with the washing machine container and forming a weir and an open-ended inlet tube 11 extending into the outer container to a level beneath the weir so as to be immersed in water and prevent the escape of steam from the otherwise closed outer container 10. Water is supplied through plastic hoses to nozzles 12 mounted above container 10 whose extension 17 is fitted directly on to the washing container. Tube 11 has a rim 21 engaging with a snap-fit over the edge of container 10 and has an integral over flow vent 34.
