Abstract

227,069. Rushen, P. C. (Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.-Ges., F.). Sept. 8, 1924. Magnetic separa. tors. - In a process for the wet magnetic separation of ores &c. of the kind in which the ores &c. are charged on to the upper part of the drum separator, a continuously renewed liquid layer is formed on the drum by water or other liquid from a sprayer d, the ores &c. being charged by a shoot in front of the sprayer d, on to the. said liquid layer. The water &c. is sprayed against the walls of the annular chamber e formed by the poles c and rises above the latter to form the said liquid layer. In a modification, the drum b is perforated and the water &c. is forced through these perforations into the. chamber e, or the water may be supplied partly through these perforations and partly through sprayers arranged above the poles c. The chamber e may be constituted by angle-irons secured to the drum b, the water &c. being fed to the channel thereby formed. Between the shoot f and sprayer d may be arranged a second sprayer g to spray liquid transversely to the stream of ore &c. and clean the same.
