Abstract

226,268. Stamm, M. Sept. 17, 1923. Fabrics composed of threads or cords united by adhesives.-A tape measure consists of longitudinal threads of fibrous material embedded in a tough, elastic, and adhesive mass consisting of celluloid or a derivative thereof, the threads being arranged parallel and close to each other. The threads may be unwound from bobbins 1 and pulled through a solution in a vessel 4, being placed in position by combs 5. After the adhesive substance has dried in the air the tapes are passed between rollers 7 and wound on a reel 8. The solution may contain colouring matter, and one of the rollers may be a printing roller. Reinforcement threads 11. Fig. 4, may be interposed between the ordinary threads 9.
