Abstract

225,252. Jensen, C. A., (Fleischmann Co.). May 28, 1923. Yeast.-To a yeast-nutrient solution containing sugar material and suitable inorganic salts are added vitamine-bearing substances such as rice polish, milk, green vegetable matter, extract of yeast &c. Solutions are described in which the vitamine-bearing substances are aqueous extracts of rice polish and milk solids respectively. The rice polish can be added to other cereals and saccharified in the usual way and the resulting product added to the solution. Spent liquors from yeast or other fermentation can also be used, after removing the alcohol.
