567,857. Cattle-foods. RITTER, E. A., and LIPSCHITZ. C. Aug. 6, 1943, No. 12680, [Class 5 (ii)] Cattle-foods are predigested. by preparing and nourishing a pure culture of the natural bacteria which attacks the particular plant or vegetable-matter to be treated, increasing the culture up to two-hundred fold in a nutrient medium, such as molasses, sugar or starch, which has been made slightly alkaline, dipping the material in the liquid, draining and stacking it, and allowing it to ferment under the action of the aerobic bacteria derived from the natural bacteria left by dipping.
