Abstract

224,005. Greenwood & Batley, Ltd., and Carrick, J. H. Aug. 4, 1923. Electrically-propelled road cars and wagons.- A truck having barrel supporting arms 27 at one end and a platform 24 for other goods is propelled by a motor 25 supplied with current by accumulators mounted on the platform 119. The wheels adjacent to the driver's platform 23 are steered by known mechanism and the other wheels are driven in the usual way through differential gearing. Brake levers for a pulley 121 on the shaft of the motor 25 are actuated by a bell-crank lever 122 connected by a rod 123 and arm 124 to a spindle 125 on which a treadle 126 is fixed. Another arm 127, Fig. 12, on the spindle is connected by an adjustable rod 128, bell-crank lever 129, rod 131 and arm 132 to the spindle of the main controller cut-out. The treadle may be returned by a spring to its highest position when the driver's foot is removed.
