Abstract
222,655. Reeves, J. C., Mickhin, A. S., and Hughes, T. O. Sept. 18, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Handles with clamping-devices for m o p s . - A mop, broom, or like device comprises two plates 1, 2 of substantially corresponding shape, which are detachably clamped together, the lower plate 2 having a large number of perforations to receive a mopping or sweeping material 4. The plate, 2 may be provided with bolts 5<a> which pass through key-hole slots in the plate 1 and are engaged by wing-nuts 7. The strands of mopping or sweeping material, except those at the edges of the plates, are preferably secured by being doubled and passed through pairs of adjacent holes in the plate 2, the strands at the edges being secured as shown in Fig. 5. The plate 1 is provided with a handle-socket 8 which may be fixed or pivoted thereto or be attached by a universal joint. The socket instead of being on the upper plate 1 may be secured to the plate 2, the plate 1 being apertured accordingly.
