Description

2225231 PAD ARTICLE WITH SUPPORTER SHEET
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
The present Invention relates to a pad article with supporter sheet combined such as that to be utilized for an automobile seat.
Description of the Background Art
Conventionally, as shown in Fig. 1, in manufacturing of a pad article 1 to be used for an automobile seat by making a pad member 3 from liquid foam resin, a supporter sheet 5 is attached to a bottom face of an upper mold 13, and the upper mold 13 with this supporter sheet 5 attached is assembled with the lower mold 12 after the liquid foam resin has been poured into the lower mold 12, so that the pad article comprising the pad member 3 and the supporter sheet 5 combined together can be obtained.
However, conventionally, when the pad article 1 was manufacturing as described above, a flash of the liquid foam resin 3a appeared at a parting line 15 between the upper mold 13 and the lower mold 12, a removal of which required a cumbersome labor.
MMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a pad article with supporter sheet capable of preventing the appearance of the flash of liquid foam resin at the parting line of the mold in the manufacturing process, so that a cumbersome labor of removing the flash can be omitted and thereby the efficiency of the manufacturing process can be improved.
This object is achieved in the present Invention by providing a pad article to be manufactured by a mold comprising an upper mold and a lower mold, the pad article comprising: a pad member to be made from liquid foam resin poured into a lower mold; and a supporter sheet to be combined with the pad member, having extended portions extending out from the pad member, the extended portions being held at parting lines between the lower mold and the upper mold when the upper mold and the lower mold are assembled.
Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a partial cross sectional view of a mold in a process of manufacturing a conventional pad article, for explaining a problem associated with the manufacturing of a conventional pad article.
Fig. 2 is a partial cross sectional view of one embodiment of a pad article with supporter sheet according to the present invention.
Fig. 3 is a partial cross sectional view of a mold in a process of manufacturing the pad article of Fig. 2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring now to Fig. 2, there is shown one embodiment of a pad article with supporter sheet according to the present invention.
In this embodiment, a pad article 21 comprises a pad member 23 to be made from liquid foam resin, and a supporter sheet 25 combined with the pad member 23 at a bottom of the pad article 21.
The supporter sheet 25 is made of a non-woven fabric, j? a rough cloth or a lawn, and has a thickness of approximately 3mm. Moreover, the supporter sheet 25 has such a size that an end portion 25a extends out to a side of the pad member 23 for a substantial length. This end portion 25a will be held at a parting line between an upper mold and a lower mold in manufacturing the pad article 21.
This pad article 21 is manufactured as follows.
First, the supporter sheet 25 is attached loosely to the upper mold 13 by means of pins or double sided tapes.
Then, as shown in Fig. 3, the upper mold 13 with the supporter sheet 25 attached is assembled with the lower mold 12 such that the end portion 25a is held at the parting line 15 between the upper mold 13 and the lower mold 12.
Next, the liquid foam resin 23a is poured into the lower mold 12 through openings 26 and 27 provided on the uppe I r mold 13 and the supporter sheet 25, respectively; by a nozzle 28. The liquid foam resin 23a-subsequently undergoes the foaming process to become the pad member 23.
When the foaming process is completed, the resulting pad article 21 is lifted out of the lower mold 12.
Here, because of the presence of the end portion 25a at the parting line 15, no flash of the liquid foam resin 23a appears when the liquid foam resin 23a is poured into the lower mold 23. Instead, the liquid foam resin 23a will penetrate into the end portion 25a, so that this end portion 25a will stiffen by the time the pad article 1 is lifted out of the lower mold 12.
The pad article 21 so obtained will then be covered by a skin cover, and the ends of the skin cover as well as those of the supporter sheet will be attached to a seat frame. Here, the ends of the supporter sheet can be made to contact the seat frame directly while the ends of the skin cover is attached over the supporter sheet, so as to prevent damaging of the skin cover by the seat frame.
Thus, according to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a pad article with supporter sheet capable of preventing the appearance of the flash of liquid foam resin at the parting line of the mold in the manufacturing process, so that a cumbersome labor of removing the flash can be omitted and thereby the efficiency of the manufacturing process can be improved.
It is to be noted that the skin cover may be placed on the lower mold before the liquid foam resin is poured so that the skin covered pad article can be obtained.
Besides this, many modifications and variations of the above embodiments may be made without departing from the novel and advantageous features of the present invention. Accordingly, all such modifications and variations are intended to be included within the scope of the appended claims.
