Abstract
PURPOSE:To surround a wire harness completely with a covering resin and fix it firmly and cover it certainly for protection from damage by supporting the wire harness hollowly in a die, injecting resin into the die, and molding solidly together with the wire harness. CONSTITUTION:Dies 10, 12 are furnished, and bosses 16, 16 are formed oppositely at appropriate positions on the inner wall 14. A harness 20 is pinched by these bosses 16, 16 within an intradie space 14 and placed hollowly without touching the inner wall 14. Then molten resin is injected from a hole 18, and the resin is allowed to foam with the aid of catalyzer so as to produce semi-hard urethane resin around the harness 20. A notch 24 is formed in a plane mating with the bosses 16, 16, wherein the width w of the notch 24 (or boss 16) is set comparatively small with respect to the dia. dp of protector 22 or the thickness t of the covered surface, whereby the harness 20 is not reached by an eventually touching foreign matter 26 such as a tool 26 inserted from outside to accomplish protection of the harness 20 from damage.
