Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve finished appearance of bent portion of pipe by injecting air against the cavity wall surface from air jets provided at the inside corner (protuberant portions) of the bend close to the cavity at the time of clamping of the lowered- down parison. CONSTITUTION:Heated and compressed air is injected from the air jets 8 provided in the protuberant portions 9 when a parison 3 extruded to a predetermined length is clamped by the dies 4, 4'. The air is injected to the curved part of the cavity 7 as shown by arrows to form an air gap layer so that the parison 3 won't directly contact the cavity 7. By this means, the bend of the parison 3 is floated up by the injected air during clamping to prevent direct contact with the curved part of the die 4, thus inhibiting the bend from being solidified preceedingly by cooling. This can prevent generation of wrinkle, etc., at the bent portion.
