Abstract

221,901. English Electric Co., Ltd., and Morris, F. July 4, 1923. Master control systems.-Two motor-operated controllers follow up the movement of a master controller, one of the two executing complete cycles in the intervals between smaller movements of the other. The two controllers are electrically interlocked so that they can only advance alternately. The diagram shows a system adapted for series-parallel and rheostatic control of electric vehicle motors. The series-parallel and the resistance drums, not shown in the diagram, are independently driven by auxiliary motors 34, 35 and are provided with groups of follow-up contacts 1, 2 whereby they advance in proportion to the movements of a master controller 36. Interlocking contacts are so disposed in the groups 1, 2, those of each group connected in the actuating circuits of the other, that the resistance drum advances over a number of steps in the intervals between single steps of the series-parallel drum. The interlocking contacts are connected to reversing switches 41, 44 which return the drums to their original positions at suitable stages of the control. The auxiliary motors 34, 35 may be pneumatic or hydraulic, with electromagneticcontrolling valves depending on the follow-up switches. Specification 175,877 is referred to.
