Lantern gratings.-An anti-glare device for vehicle lamps comprises a series of relatively thin horizontal vanes 2, the ends 4 of which conform to the shape of the reflector. The vanes are secured in a locking-ring 3 having narrow metallic strips 12 to which are secured narrow springs 13 for bearing against the front glass. The vanes are spaced uniformly apart either by providing each vane with a central off-set portion 9, in which case the diverging spacing-members 10 form inclined surfaces 11 for deflecting light laterally, or by tongues struck from the vanes and bent at right angles thereto to bear against the next adjacent vane. The under surfaces of the vanes are left in their natural unpolished state, whilst the upper surfaces are coated with a flat colouring matter which absorbs part of the light so that only a soft light is reflected upwardly.
