Abstract

239,183. Young, C. F. Aug. 26, 1924, [Convention date]. Lantern gratings.- An anti-glare device for vehicle lamps comprises a series of relatively thin flat horizontal metal vanes 1 spaced apart by symmetrically arranged tongues 4, 4<1> struck out from the vanes, and held together by two wires or rods 7 passing through the vanes and having heads 3 engaging the lowermost vane 9 and soldered at 6 to the uppermost vane 8. The device is secured in position by metal portions 2 which are either formed as extensions to the vanes 8, 9, as shown in Fig. 1, or are secured to the ends of the vanes by members 16, as shown in Fig. 4. In each case the portions 2 are clamped between the flange 10 of the reflector 11 and a clamping- ring 12 which is secured to the flange 15 of the lens-holding rim 14.
