Abstract

Automatic circuit - breakers etc.; electromagnetic switches.- Wastage of current in electric light installations is prevented by providing for e a c h lamp or group of lamps L a switching device comprising push buttons a, b and an electromagnet e, the button a when depressed completing a circuit through the lamps L and the electromagnet e which then attracts the armature h to: close a maintaining circuit through contacts i, o. The lamps L are switched off by depression of the button b which is in the maintaining circuit. By this arrangement, the device cannot be left in the " on " position when the lamp circuit is dead. Also all lamps may be simultaneously extinguished by temporary opening of a main switch and may then be independently switched or again. The contact o may be bevelled so that upon the occurrence of excess current, the arm i slips over it and breaks circuit.
