Electromagnetic switches tripped mechanically to reset indicators. - In a supply installation excess current beyond that contracted for raises a solenoid and closes a switch in the circuit of an indicating lamp, the switch being closed by a gravity latch until released by hand, after opening a locked casing, by the authorized person. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3 in which excess current closes the circuit of the indicating lamp but does not otherwise effect the supply, the core H when raised by the excess current lifts a bridging contact-carrying member F carried by a plate K guided by the projections K<1> so that a central contact is moved from a fixed contact M, Fig. 3, thereby breaking the circuit of the solenoid, and the bridging contact engages the fixed spring contacts D, E. This provides an alternative circuit through the lead 8 to the load and an additional circuit through the leads 7, 8 including the indicating lamp. The bridging member is maintained in the raised position by the gravity latch B engaging the plate K and the current to the indicating lamp can only be broken by the authorized person. In a modification the circuits are so arranged that the supply circuit is broken when the bridging member rises on overload.
