Abstract

Valve members formed with seats for other valve members.-In a thermostatically-operated feed-water regulator a valve of the type having a sliding plunger 19 and a cylindrical seat-member 10 which can be rotated so that the effective area of ports 24 in the member 10 can be varied, is constructed so that the seat 10 is threaded into opposing openings in a depending hollow partition 9 within the valve casing and is rotatable by means such as a bridge-piece 12 on a spindle 13 to which is attached an external quadrant 15 locked in position bv nuts 18 on a rod 17 fixed to the casing. The plunger 19 is hollow with end partitions 28 and its diameter between the partitions is less than that of the cylindrical seat, to reduce friction.
