Abstract

220,506. Kirschen, A. Oct. 29, 1923. Shaviwg - arppliances.- A self-soaping lathering device of the type having a hollow casing forming a handle in which a piece of soap is slidably mounted, is provided with a crossslitted lathering sponge 2, interchangeably mounted at one end of the casing 4, through which sponge the soap can be projected when the device is in use. A rubber casing 1 having slots 5 corresponding to the slits 11 in the sponge 2 fits into a holder 13 which screws on to the threaded end of the casing 4. The soap 6 is mounted in a slidable holder within the casing 4, and can be operated either by a radial pin 31 which projects through a slot 9 in the casing, or by an interior pin which can be operated whenthe lower closing cap is removed. The return movement of the soap may be assisted by a coiled spring. An alum stone 7 may be provided at the lower end of the casing, which is enclosed by a cover 10. In a modification, the sponge-holderis secured by vulcanization &c. to a rubber ring in the holder.
