Pencil-holders.-The lead is guided in a tube o and a split steel nozzle tip n, and is advanced by means of a pushpin i guided in a tubular shank h provided with a head k for rotation, the pin i being provided at its upper end with a flat toothed block m projecting through opposite longitudinal slots in the shank h into engagement with a screwthreaded sleeve e, which is located within a sleeve b fixed to the casing a and forming a reserve-lead magazine. The shank h can be pulled out to the extent permitted by the position of the block m at the time, to extend the length of the holder during writing. The sleeve e extends at both ends beyond the sleeve b, the inner end being supported by a sleeve g fixed to the casing a, and the outer end receiving a screw head f for closing the magazine. To insert a new lead, the head k is rotated until the block m is clear of the sleeve e, and then is pulled outwards to withdraw the pin i, when the new lead is dropped through the sleeve e into the tube o.
