219,777. Renton, A. N. June 15, 1923. Combing-machines.-The top jaw of the nipper of a Delete, Heilmann or like combing-maohine is formed of two outer plates B. B<1> between which is fitted a loose plate A. The plate A is main. tained in a raised position when the jaws are closed by the rib or ledge on the bottom jaw entering the channel between the plates B, B<1>, but falls through the action of gravity or through the intervention of springs when the jaws are separated, and in falling acts to flatten down the deflection formed in the fibre. The front plate B extends lower down than the rear plate B<1> and is curved towards the rear plate at its lower edge b<1>.
