Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an upper pliers knife according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Usual combing machines contain in each combing head a pair of pliers with a pliers frame, which carries a lower pliers plate and in which a feed cylinder is mounted, and with upper pliers arms, which are pivotally connected to the pliers frame and carry an upper pliers knife. During operation, the pliers unit is moved back and forth between a rear and a front end position. In the rear end position, the lower edge of the upper pliers knife, which is provided with a fiber deflecting cliff, presses a cotton wool, from which a fiber beard is combed out by a rotating circular comb, against a front edge of the lower pliers plate.
The load on the parts that move the pliers unit back and forth depends on the number of back and forth movements per unit of time - number of combs - and on the mass of the pliers unit. In order to be able to increase the number of combs, one tries to keep the mass of the pliers unit as low as possible.
In view of this aim, the object of the invention is to design the above-mentioned pliers knife in such a way that its mass is smaller than that of known upper-pliers knives, but that it is nevertheless able to apply cotton wool with line pressure of the required size and uniformity to clamp a pliers plate.
The object is achieved with the feature specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1. The recess or recesses lead to the required reduction in the mass of the plate. However, since the recesses are only provided between the two longitudinal edges of the plate, but not in the area of the longitudinal edges themselves, the plate can have sufficient rigidity, similar to a T-beam or C-beam have so that it can exert the line pressure of the required size and uniformity with its longitudinal edge provided with the fiber deflecting cliff. In addition, there is the possibility of designing and arranging the recess or recesses such that the rigidity of the plate is higher in the area of its longitudinal center than in the area of its ends. This can further improve the uniformity of the line pressure exerted by the plate.

The
So that the lower edge 9.1 of the
As an example, FIGS. 5 to 7 show an
8 shows a
