Abstract

218,822. Hustadt, P., and Hustadt, K. June 19,1923. Tenipering.-In a machine for tempering and straightening saw blades, knives and similar tools, the blades &c. 8 are pressed between electrically-heated plates 12, 13 mounted in pressmembers 3, 7 of a press. The plates are heated by spirals 9, 10 embedded in the members 3, 7 and connected bv cables 11 to a source of current. To maintain a uniform temperature an ampere meter may be inserted in the circuit. The members 3, 7 are carried by a frame 4 mounted on journals 2. When the blades have been tempered, the frame 4 is rotated through 90‹ and the member 7 moved away from the blades which drop on to a shoot or table and are thus simultaneously cooled on both sides.
