Abstract

218,397. Juvet, O., and Snortland, L. April 9, 1923. Pivoted-leaf files; boxes. - In a filing- device particularly adapted for use on the dashboard of a motor vehicle, for the purpose of keeping maintenance records, in which a casing 10 contains file leaves 11 provided with side pockets and pivoted on laterally extending pintles 49, the latter are supported by the side walls of the casing and are carried in channels formed in the lower edges of the leaves. The casing door, which is transparent, is supported when open, so as to provide a rest for the leaves, by slotted arms 32 which slide into the casing on studs 35 when the door is closed. A spring catch 36 is provided to hold the doors in position, and spring guides 60 prevent the leaves from rattling. The filing leaves each comprise a body plate 40, Fig. 12, each half side edge of which is bent in opposite directions, side channel pieces 45 in which the plate 40 is fixed so as to form side pockets for the record sheets, and a base channel 47 grooved to contain the pintle 49. A spring 70 is provided to hold used record sheets; and the casing is secured in an aperture B on the dashboard A by out-turned flanges 21.
