Abstract

218,376. Alley, S. E. April 3, 1923. Steam-propelled wagons. - The engine cylinders 14 and the crank shaft 23 are displaced backward out of the space between the front and rear wheels, and the engine and the crank pin circle are located wholly or mainly below the frame. Space is thus left between the axles to accommodate the lower end of a vertical boiler 17. The driving wheels 12 may be carried upon a non-rotary axle, and may be driven independently by means of a differential gear embodied in the crank shaft.
