Abstract

217,620. Smith, R. April 3, 1923. Pile fabrics. - Relates to tapestry and velvet pile carpets &c. of the type wherein the design is printed on two or more pile warps A, one part of the design being printed on one warp and another part of the design being printed on another pile warp, whereby smaller printing drums may be used. Such fabrics are woven with two or more weft shots E for each row of pile and with the pile-forming threads extending to the back of the fabric, as shown in Fig. 2, or with three or more sheets of weft for each row of pile and with the pile warp threads when not forming pile woven into the body of the fabric, as shown in Fig. 5. Stuffer warps C and binding warps B are used.
