216,770. White, A. E., (Goodrich Co., B. F.). Oct. 10, 1923. Tyre covers, special apparatus for making.- A tubular structure, from which bands are cut for use in building- up tyre castings, is formed by helically winding two cord &c. fabric strips 28 around a mandrel 13 on to which a paper &c. strip 14 is fed through a folder 17 to form a non-adhesive liner between the fabric plies when the tube' is flattened. The fabric supply rolls 28 and takeup rolls 31 for the liner strips are journaled at the required angle on turntables 18 which surround the mandrel 13 and are driven in opposite directions from the same shaft as the rolls 34 for drawing the work from the mandrel.
