Abstract

Tyres, elastic, special apparatus for making.- In building-up the foundation of a tyre cover, the fabric plies D are pressed on to the core A by means operating continuously around the core and progressively inwards from the tread to the edge portions. In the apparatus shown, the pressure-means consist of expansible annular tubes B confined between the sides of the core A and adjustable rings C, and connected to a pressurefluid supply by a pipe B<3>. The free edges of the strip D are held away from the core by means of rubber &c. strips E which yield under the pressure of the expanding tubes B. In modifications. the series of strips E are replaced by single strips stretched across the angles formed by the neck of the core and the side walls C, or by similarly-disposed hollow tubes, which may be inflated.
