Abstract
216,084. Calamatianos, S. May 16, 1923, [Convention date]. Inductances. - An inductance is wound over and under pins p normal to the surface of a flat former b, the pins being staggered in successive rings or in successive convolutions of a spiral. Each ring consists of an odd number of pins and the wire is wound from the outside to the inside and then back. Several flat layers may be wound as shown and connected to contacts B, C on an insulating plate M secured to the former so that any number of sections may be connected by appropriate bridging of the contacts. In a modification the wire is wound over and under pins similarly arranged on the surface of a cylindrical former. The pins may be withdrawn after winding and the coil secured by sewing between insulating discs after treatment with paraffin or shellac. Coils made in this way may be employed in a variometer.
