Abstract
228,839. Taunton, H. R. Dec. 20, 1923. Inductances.-An inductance coil comprises a number of helically wound layers separated by zig-zag layers so formed that the finished coil has flat sides without projecting loops. The coil may be wound on a cylindrical former A, on either side of which pins are disposed radially in staggered formation. The number of pins in each set should be an odd number not divisable by three. The separating layer comprises a winding over pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and so on back to X, thence, over pins 1, 3. 4, 6, 7, 9 and so on to Y and finally over X, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 to Z. The separating windings do not cross one another within the area of the helical winding. The former and pins are removed on completion of the coil.
