Inductances.-The turns of a multi-layer inductance coil for wireless telegraphy are spaced apart to minimize damping due to eddy-current losses. The wire 3 is carried on notched supports 2 arranged on the circumference of a cylinder 1. The distance between adjacent turns in successive layers is increased with the difference in pressure between these turns by varying the depths of the notches in the supports 2. A number of such coils 8, 9, Fig. 4, may be concentrically arranged on carriers 5, 6 so as to be axially movable towards one another, forming a disk variometer.
