Abstract

215,538. Drummond, A. April 13, 1923. Ball and like mills.-In rotary-drum apparatus for cement grinding &c. in which the drum is rotatable around an axis that can be tilted up or down for feeding and discharging purposes, the support for the forward end of the drum provides for continuous contact between the drum and the supporting-rollers by mounting the rollers in a floating manner in the supporting - framework so that they are free to move transversely as a whole. The floating rollers F, Figs. 1 and 2, are mounted in a box or carrier f free to run on bearing-rollers f<2> along the base of the supporting-frame E which is secured at the front of the radial side-frames C in which the drum A is mounted. The frame E comprises two angle-iron frames, the rollers F extending between the two members of the frame and projecting through apertures in the top of the box f. More than one pair of rollers may be employed at different points in the length of the drum. The drum is rotated through bevel gear by a wheel b<1> driven by a chain b<3> from a wheel b<2> on the axle of the driving-pulley b.
