Abstract

Liquid, gaseous, or pulverulent fuel, employing in conjunction with solid fuel.-Poor fuel is burnt on a mechanical or like grate 1 in an ordinary steam boiler plant by raising the temperature of the fuel to ignition point immediately after it enters, the furnace by heat radiation and reflection from the front portion of the ordinary firearch 2, the said arch being heated by jets 3 of burning liquid, gaseous, or pulverized fuel arranged under the front portion of the fire-arch so as to produce a line of fire across the width of the arch.
