Inkstands.-A bottle of ink &c. of the kind adapted to prevent spilling of the contents when upset is fitted with a tube removably and slidably mounted in the bottle neck and having its outer end beyond the bottle neck formed with a bell mouth the edge of which is curved inwardly and backwardly towards the tube. In one construction, a small bore tube e, Fig. 1, is formed with a bell mouth f having an annular inverted cupped chamber g and slidably held in a tight manner by a cork or like ferrule d fitted in the neck c of the bottle. When the tube is pushed into the, bottle, as shown, a supply of ink rises in the tube e to the level x for dipping purposes, and if the bottle is upset the ink in the mouth f is retained by the chamber g, the ink in the bottle being prevented from escaping owing to the small bore of the tube. In a modified construction, a tube r, Fig. 4, of similar shape is employed, but the bore is wider to admit the passage therethrough of a pen and the inner end of the tube does not reach the normal level n of the ink, such level being indicated by an external beading m<1> on the bottle.
