Gas-meters.-The measuring drum-shaft 1 of a wet gas-meter drives the spindle 11 of the initial indicating wheel of the registering mechanism through gear wheels 3, 4, 10, the gear wheels 4, 10 being carried by a spindle 5 rotating in a bearing 8 which passes through the walls of the water vessel 9 and outer casing 7. The spindle 11 rotates in a bearing 13 in the casing wall and carries a gear wheel 14 driving a gear wheel 15 which is freely rotatable on the exterior of the bearing 8 and carries the elevating device 6 for maintaining the water level in the vessel 9. The spindles 5, 11 are of small diameter, the capillary spaces between the spindle and their bearings being stated to prevent leakage without the use of stuffing-boxes. The spindle 5 may alternatively be formed integrally with the shaft 1 or be arranged in alignment with the shaft and be driven through a tappet, fork or other device.
