Abstract

Fluid speed indicators.-A centrifugal pressure generator for speed indicators of the type wherein the speed is measured in terms of the pressure set up in a liquid a rotary impeller comprises a two-part casing f, f<1> with connections n, u to a pressure gauge, and a rotor formed of two discs a, a<1> with radial blades b, the rotor being fast on a shaft c driven from the shaft whose speed is to be measured. The shaft c is mounted in ball bearings d, e, the bearing e being engaged by a spring h within a sleeve g so as to force a collar i on the shaft against the wall of the casing to form a tight joint. The hollow part k of the shaft through which the liquid passes to the interior of the rotor is received in a sleeve m engaged by another sleeve r surrounded by a spring q. The inner sleeve m is forced against a member o which makes a yielding fluid-tight joint with a part p fixed in the casing. A vent-cock t is fitted at the end of a central tube s to allow air bubbles to be removed. The rotor may consist of a disc having radial passages through it.
