213,645. Westinghouse Morse Chain Co., Ltd., (Morse, F. L.). Dec. 22, 1922. Chain-wheels.-A sprocket wheel adapted to cooperate with a drive chain formed of multi-plate arch-shaped links, is provided with " double angle " teeth formed at their outer ends or points with bearing faces adapted to fit the internal surfaces of the links, while the inner or root portion of each tooth is formed to fit the external or outer end surfaces of the links, the bearing surfaces of the point and root of each tooth being inclined at an angle to one another. The outer ends or points 15 of the teeth are formed at a constant angle corresponding to the angle of the inner engaging surfaces 13 of the links, and which is uniform for all sizes of wheels. The inner races 14 or root portions of the teeth, which are formed to engage the external surfaces or ends 11. 12 of the links, vary according to the size of wheel and the number of teeth as shown in Figs. 1 and 6. When the drive is intended to be mainly in one direction, the forward end 12 of the links may be slightly smaller than the rear end 11 so that the internal bearing surface 13 may engage the outer face 15 of the driven sprocket slightly before the end 12 touches the inner face 14.
