[Class 80 (i)] [See also Group XXV] A chain is composed of oval interlooped links provided with cross-bars 2 to engage the teeth 4 of a sprocket-wheel. Each tooth may be slotted to engage the bars on both sides as shown, or each bar may be displaced towards one end of the link to engage a single tooth on one side. The cross-bars may be shaped to give rolling contact with the teeth at engagement and disengagement.
