Abstract

Driving machines. - Cams on parallel shafts geared together in automatic glass-feeding devices, cutting, boring, and like machinery &c. are rotated relatively during running for adjustment of their phases by partial or complete rotation of frames carrying intermediate pinions. The driving-shatt 1 carries a wheel 5 gearing with wheels 4 loose on the shafts 1<a> and secured to bevel wheels 2 gearing through pinions 6 pivoted in frames 8 with wheels 3 secured to the shafts 1<a>. By means of a screw bolt 9 movable in a slot 10 in the casing 11, or by worm and wheel means, each frame 8 can be adjusted to change the phase of its shaft. The wheel 4 may be arranged outside the frame 8 to allow the frame to be given more than one complete rotation. Multiple cams 12 on the shaft 1<a> are adjusted relatively to their bowls 17 by rods 15 sliding in the shafts. In cutting, boring and like machinery the stock undergoes a series of operations by tools each of which is operated by the cam at a time which is adjustably correlated to the times of operation of the other tools.
