Abstract

213,283. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Doran, J. H.). March 23, 1923, [Convention date]. Casings.-In a turbine for extra high steam pressures in which at the high-pressure end, the casing has an overhung portion 9, an annular member 17 which is not split axially serves, by means of the tongue and groove connections 18, 19 and 15, 16, to anchor the free end of the portion 9 to the main part 6 of the casing. The member 17 also serves as the inner wall of an annular steam chamber 7a from which steam is admitted to the nozzles through channels 21. The nozzle ring 20 is bolted to the member 17 and a labyrinth packing which may be of the type described in Specification 213,277, [Class 122 (v), Stuffing-boxes &c.], is secured to the member 17 by bolts 23.
