Elements moving always in one plane, rotating; articles to be displayed, rotating supports for; actuating.-Moving advertising apparatus, e.g. a vertical disc or a horizontal platform supporting displayed articles, is driven by an electric motor continuously loaded by an eddy current brake, such as is commonly employed in electric meters. Fig. 1 shows a Ferraris meter motor in which the eddy disc 1 is geared by a worm and wheel 4, 5 to a display platform 10. A secondary winding 17 on the member 2, or on the primary winding 15, is connected to a lamp 21 or to knocking devices or other acoustic advertising means, and its circuit is controlled by a spring contact 11. If desired, the secondary winding may be connected both to the lamp and the acoustic advertising means. A star-wheel 7 on the platform spindle makes and breaks in succession the contact at 11. A hand-operated member 23 serves to close the secondary circuit permanently, and a switch for keeping it continuously open may be provided. Similar apparatus is described for turning the platform by a direct current, the disc 1 then being provided with armature windings and a commutator, and a star-wheel or other interrupter for the secondary circuit being furnished. A " silite " resistance may be employed instead of the lamp 21. One or more sides of the motor casing may be of glass and have transparent inscriptions with lamps at the rear. To facilitate starting, the driving gear may be elastically connected with the advertisement carrier, e.g. by a spiral spring.
