Abstract

422,855. Moving signs. GARBETT, G. P., 27, Chatsworth Road, Chiswick, and ODHAMS PRESS, Ltd., 93, Long Acre, both in London. July 19, 1933, No. 20405. [Class 3 (i)] An electric discharge tube 1 looped to form a surface of revolution when rotated is mounted on a turntable 3 and surrounds a stationary display platform 24 carried by a standard 5 upstanding from a base 6 and passing through an opening in the turntable. The turntable has attached to it a grooved driving ring 13 engaged by a friction wheel 15 on a motor 16 bodily biassed by a spring 19. Contact rings 10 connect the transformer brushes 11 to the tube terminals 2. The tube 1 may rest on lugs 27 and be held thereto by straps 28. Segmental and feathered luminous effects are stated to be produced. Rearward illuminated transparencies 23 may be exhibited at windows 22 in the base 6. In a modification the platform 24 may be of open formation and be supported from the standard 5 by vertical wires &c., the standard 5 being open at the top to allow a displayed object 26 to be illuminated from below by a source of light within the base 6.
